Truro Fencing Club is one of Britain's leading clubs. An extraordinary transformation over a period of just 6 years has seen a typical provincial sports club metamorphose into a winning machine. Some of Britain's most successful youth, senior and veteran competitors have been produced by the club's passionate and skilled coaches. Since 1999 twenty eight fencers from Truro have represented their country . In 2006 six fencers from Truro Fencing Club competed at The Commonwealth Championships representing England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This year Truro's Men's and women's sabre teams won silver and bronze respectively at the Great Britain National Team Championships.

Truro athletes have been identified as Olympic prospects; fencers have competed at World, European and Commonwealth Championships at Junior, Senior and Veteran level; and yet Truro remains an inclusive club, with elite athletes training alongside beginners and recreational sportspeople.

The club's philosophy is "what you can imagine you can achieve". Cornwall's limited resources, geographical isolation, ill-resourced facilities and under-privileged communities have not been viewed as barriers, but as motivations for achievement, building of unrivalled esprit de corps, and inspiration for the club's over-riding characteristic - passion.
