In the late 1970’s early 1980’s I was working as a film extra , stand-in and double . During this time I worked on a number of science fiction productions including Flash Gordon , Dr. Who and Highlander . In 1979 I worked on The Empire Strikes Back for three weeks and in 1982 on Return of The Jedi for six weeks .

I was just one of a team of extras who worked on the Star Wars films . There was a hard core team of about 15 of us who worked continually on the films as different characters (mostly with masks or helmets on) who were then added to when there were larger scenes such as the massed guard of honour on the Death Star. We spent most of our time running around the sets as Stormtroopers , standing guard at doors or following Darth Vader around. In addition to Stormtroopers and Rebel Soldiers I also played a number of ‘masked’ Aliens.

It was a long time ago now but I seem to remember one of the high points was seeing Princess Leia in her slave costume , in chains . I also remember dancing with a very attractive Ewok . I gave her - I think it was a female - my number but she never called back !
